Meet Life In Student Ministry

MinistryWebsites.biz was started by Tim Schmoyer to help fund the ongoing youth ministry projects of Life In Student Ministry. Visited by thousands of youth workers every day, the site encourages, equips, and trains those in youth ministry around the world.

Tim’s ideas and dreams for online ministry to youth workers continues to grow along with the site. Besides the content he publishes every day, he mails hundreds of dollars worth of books to new youth workers in the youth ministry mentorship program, sends free resources to ministries that need it via his videoblog, and hosts LIVE youth ministry conversations every Friday. Thankfully, so far these projects and others have been funded by advertising and sponsors.

Upcoming youth ministry projects require money

But there are other upcoming dreams Tim has that will require much more funding than the site currently generates, including free youth ministry training videos, regular access to youth ministry experts, a free missions trip for youth groups across the nation (yes, that’s a right — a free missions trip!), and other ideas that are still underway.

Two ways to fund projects — we don’t like either of them

The typical approach is to charge a fee for premium access to content or program, but Tim knows what it’s like to be a volunteer youth worker with absolutely no ministry budget, the position where most youth workers in America actually are. So, charging for access to content that could potentially change teenagers’ lives is not an option for him.

The other approach is to litter the blog with advertising, promoting so many different products that you can never afford and probably isn’t worth your money in the first place. Sure, he could spend lots of time pursuing advertisers and sponsors that he knows, trusts, and recommends, but that takes a lot of time. He would rather devote that time to answering youth workers’ questions, generating content and developing projects that will bless youth ministries, like MinistryQuestions.com that was built and funded partially by MinistryWebsites.biz proceeds.

MinistryWebsites.biz is his idea to fund the youth ministry projects at Life In Student Ministry so youth ministry mentees can continue to receive one-on-one mentoring for free, so materials and resources can be shipped around the country for free, and so he can peruse ideas that require funding only God can provide. It allows him to dedicate his time to generating content and answering youth ministry questions for free.
